Clean Your Mattress Like a Pro

Your mattress is where you spend a third of your life, so it’s important to keep it clean and hygienic. Over time, mattresses can accumulate dust, sweat, and other particles that can impact the quality of your sleep and even cause health problems.

But let’s face it, cleaning your mattress is probably not on your list of favorite things to do. Just like anything else in your home, it needs to be cleaned regularly to keep it fresh and free of dirt, dust, and other unwanted nasties.

STEP 1: VACUUM

The first step is to vacuum your mattress. Grab the upholstery attachment on your trusty vacuum cleaner and gently remove any loose dust, pesky hairs, or unwanted debris from the surface of your mattress. Trust us, your sinuses will thank you!

STEP 2: BAKING SODA AND ESSENTIAL OILS

Then it’s time to give your mattress a little spa treatment with the help of baking soda and essential oils. Sprinkle the mixture over the entire surface of your mattress and let it set for a minimum of 30 minutes before vacuuming it off. Baking soda works wonders as a natural deodorizer!

STEP 3: STAIN REMOVAL

Stains on your mattress? Don’t panic! Mix a small amount of mild detergent with warm water and gently dab the stain with a clean cloth. Don’t use too much water, as it can seep into the foam layers and cause damage. Once the stain is removed, blot with a clean, dry cloth and let it air dry.

STEP 4: STEAM CLEAN

Now, for the pièce de résistance, sanitize your mattress with a steam cleaner. This will kill any bacteria or dust mites that may be lurking inside. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions carefully and allow the mattress to dry completely before using it again.

BONUS TIPS!

USE A QUALITY MATTRESS PROTECTOR.

Mattress protectors can be removed and cleaned separately and will protect the mattress from many of the things listed above.
